CHROME DESIGN: SALONE DEL MOBILE 2024

For the eighth consecutive year, our team at Chrome Design was thrilled to participate in the esteemed Salone del Mobile, Eurocucina, and Fuori Salone 2024. Post-pandemic, these events have evolved remarkably, with Fuori Salone in particular expanding its scope and scale, compelling visitors to dedicate more time beyond the traditional Salone del Mobile itinerary.

SALONE INTRODUCTION

The 62nd edition of Salone del Mobile in 2024 attracted almost 400,000 visitors (architects and designers), reflecting its status as a premier international design and innovation showcase. This event significantly contributes to the economic vitality of Milan and the broader Italian furniture and design sector, which reported a turnover of approximately 28 billion euros in 2023. The Salone del Mobile has a broader economic impact on Milan than Milan Fashion Week, influencing a wider range of sectors including design, logistics, and city-wide commerce, due to its extensive international reach and pivotal role in Milan Design Week.

OUR 2024 PRIVATE EVENTS

This year was exceptionally memorable as we were invited to some standout events. Among them was the oppulent Molteni&C’s grand 90th anniversary celebration held in the historic Pirelli Hangars Bicocca. The event, infused with art, Djs, performances, and dancing, featured the launch of "Molteni Mondo. An Italian Design Story," chronicling the brand's rich history. Attended by international design collaborators and notable personalities, the event exuded luxury and encapsulated Molteni&C's enduring heritage and progressive design ethos.

Additionally, we had the first look at Gaggenau’s new products line at the prestigious Villa Necchi Campiglio, which continued to push the boundaries of luxury appliances. These experiences not only enriched our understanding of current trends but also provided us with unique insights into the future of design.

EUROCUCINA 2024

At EuroCucina this year, the presence of new appliances and the emphasis on connectivity were particularly notable, especially at the Samsung booth, where the latest innovations were on display. Color also made a strong statement, with Elica's booth standing out due to its vibrant use of hues. However, compared to the pre-pandemic era, EuroCucina seemed more conservative this year, with companies appearing to take fewer risks. For those seeking true design inspiration, for example, a visit to the Arclinea showroom downtown proved necessary, where more daring and innovative designs were showcased, reflecting a higher standard of creativity and originality integration of wolf appliances into a sleek island design.

SALONE FURNITURE LEADERS

Minotti and Poliform once again showcased their exceptional brand presentation and extraordinary craftsmanship. Minotti occupied a prominent 1,500 square meter space, while Poliform showcased their designs within a 750 square meter area. These substantial spaces allowed both brands to effectively highlight their latest product lines and their dedication to design excellence. Visiting their booths was a remarkable experience, offering a unique glimpse into their exceptional new collections and the meticulous craftsmanship that defines both brands. Definitely, Flexform, Living Divani, and Jov are also brands that stood out at Salone del Mobile 2024.

COLORS + TRENDS 2024

Regarding the latest trends at Salone del Mobile 2024, textured walls continue to be omnipresent, predominantly in earthy tones. While some booths opted for more vibrant colors, the majority stayed within the realm of neutral hues—a trend that has become more pronounced since the pandemic. This shift reflects a broader industry movement towards calming, natural aesthetics that emphasize comfort and simplicity in interior design spaces.

BAGNO

The world of bathroom accessories continues to evolve, and 2024 was no exception. During our 2021 visit to the Gessi showroom in the heart of Milan, we were captivated by the extraordinary experience in the luxurious space, which rivals even the finest spas. Year after year, Gessi remains a leader at the Salone del Mobile, outshining others with its innovative booth design. Year after year, Gessi never fails to impress, particularly with the launch of a new faucet featuring an integrated Nespresso capsule system. Antonio Lupi also stood out, exploring new market segments, though we feel they could still capitalize more on their core strength: the unreplicated artistry in their bathroom sinks. Special mentions go to Casabath and Fantini, whose products continue to delight us with their impeccable design and quality.

IN A LEAGUE OF ITS OWN

Paola Lenti, 64 remains one of our favorite designers. We eagerly anticipate each of her installations. For 2024, she maintains her distinctive approach to furniture and rug design with bold colors and innovative materials, in proposing "Whispers of Nature," an installation designed by Oki Sato (Nendo). The temporary installation explored the translation of daily phenomena into tangible objects, reflecting a minimalist and nature-inspired aesthetic.

Henge showcased their latest collection titled "Endless Vision" at their exclusive showroom located at Via della Spiga 34. The event was part of a broader presentation of their new lighting and furniture pieces, developed in collaboration with international designers. This showcase was set in an atmosphere designed to highlight the natural beauty and exceptional quality of the materials used. The showroom, a significant space in the heart of Milan's fashion district, offered a unique experience that allowed visitors to fully immerse themselves in Henge's innovative and luxurious designs.
